『マチャミの全部いただきっ!!』のスキー場でのロケで、二人はソリに乗って登場したが、事前に操縦の練習をさせてもらえず、しかも「顔が隠れる」という理由でヘルメットを装着させてもらえなかった。 案の定大きくコースを外れ、レストハウスのコンクリート壁に激突。壁にあったゴミ袋と雪がクッションの役目をしたため命に別状はなかったが、大木は第十二胸椎圧迫骨折（つまりは背骨骨折）の重傷を負った（幸運にも半身不随は免れたが、紙一重だった）、相方の大内登は頭蓋骨骨折と脳挫傷（3箇所）の重傷を負い、一時意識不明に陥り、生命も危ぶまれるほどの重態になったものの、奇跡的に無事生還。大木曰く「激突の瞬間、司会者席から笑い声がしたので（大事故には見えなかったため）オチをつけようと立ち上がろうとしたが、全身に力が入らず全く動けなかった。大内を見ると、鼻血を出してぐったりしていた」という。その後なんの説明もなしに一時期レギュラー番組から姿を消し、痛々しい車椅子姿で復帰した。また、番組側はこの事故の事を半年も隠蔽していた。今でも、まだ古傷が痛む事がある。
